Photoshop CS5 crashing on Mac

Just a month ago when i purchased my new “MacBook Pro (early 2011)” i was so excited to use Adobe Photoshop CS5 on this Nuclear Power-plant and would like to see how this works on it.

Adobe Photoshop CS5

But ever since having installed Adobe Photoshop CS5 on my MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard 10.6.7), i have been so upset cos Adobe Photoshop is crashing every time i start working on it.

Every time i start Photoshop it gives me an error like this
“Photoshop quit unexpectedly”

Photoshop CS5 Crash Error

I was so desperate to fix the problem, i tried so many things but Photoshop CS5 still crashing.

And finally i got the solution!!!
It was the problem with my font library which contain some of the font which r not compatible with Photoshop CS5. To fix it all you have to do is…
// Open the Font Book Application
// Select all the fonts in your library
// And then go to File > Validate Fonts
// Once the Font Validation has completed remove all the font which is marked as Red. Cos those are the fonts which crashing Photoshop.
// There might be some font which will marked as Yellow with exclamation sign, Please click on these fonts and if it says ‘Multiple Copies of this font are installed’   then right click on the font and click on ‘Resolves Duplicates’

Thats it, This should work as it works with me. If u still having problem with Photoshop crashing then it might be your Graphics Card OpenGL support issue. please check my other post which is related with Adobe Photoshop OpenGL support.

Photoshop CS4 crashing on Mac

Many of you might face that Photoshop CS4 crashing so often on Mac. There are few reason behind it. let me tell you in-details….

Photoshop CS4

The main culprit is lack of OpenGL support by Adobe!!! this feels bad when we see a company like Adobe release unstable Version of the application to market when the End User is the sufferer. In this case they release Photoshop CS4 which hardly support OpenGL.

After googling for a while what i found is insane!!! at Adobe Support 95% of Photoshop CS4 solution is related to OpenGL where they told to update users Graphics Card Driver or if that didnt work they told to disable the OpenGL Drawing option from Preference panel.

But what on earth i can possible update my Mac OSX Graphics Card Driver cos there isnt any option to do that!!! so the only option that we have is disable the OpenGL Drawing option from Preference Panel.

All u have to click on the Photoshop Menu > Preference > Performance and then disable the OpenGL Drawing Check Box. Thats it!!! But even after this if u face the Crashing problem then it might be your Font Library that is not supporting by Adobe!!! please check my another article on this.
